A mild to the skin Chlorhexidine Gluconate aqueous antiseptic skin cleanser for effective procedural hand washing. MICROSHIELD*2 Chlorhexidine Skin Cleanser is effective against most Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria and has demonstrated activity against viruses. Composition - The active ingredient is 2% w/v Chlorhexidine Gluconate. This solution also contains non-ionic surfactants, emollients and moisturisers all of which were specially selected for their mildness to skin and their compatibility with Chlorhexidine Gluconate. The activity of Chlorhexidine Gluconate is formulation dependent. Actions - Chlorhexidine Gluconate is absorbed through the bacterial cell wall obstructing its permeability. It interferes with the cell’s physiological activity leading to its destruction. Chlorhexidine Gluconate provides cumulative and residual protection against micro-organisms Indications - Antimicrobial handwashing for healthcare personnel.

MICROSHIELD*T Triclosan Skin Cleanser

Composition:
The active ingredient is 1.0% w/v Triclosan. It contains surfactants, emollients and moisturizers which are specially selected for their mildness to the skin and compatibility with Triclosan. The activity of Triclosan is formulation dependent. The pH of the product is the same pH as skin, pH 5.5.

Actions :
Triclosan is bactericidal and bacteriostatic causing non-specific disruption of the cell membrane resulting in cell destruction. On the skin Triclosan has activity against most Gram positive and negative bacteria and most fungi, as well as activity against viruses. Triclosan is highly effective against MRSA. The activity of Triclosan is both immediate and residual.

Indications:
Antimicrobial handwashing for healthcare personnel especially those with sensitive and damaged skin.

Contraindications:
The incidence of irritation caused by the removal of natural oils from the skin has been greatly reduced by MICROSHIELD* T Triclosan Skin Cleanser due to its emollient formulation. However care should be taken with individuals with suspected sensitivity as they may still be susceptible. MICROSHIELD* T Triclosan Skin Cleanser should not be swallowed as it may irritate the mucous membranes and may cause abdominal discomfort, diarrhoea, and vomiting. Inhaling of aerosols may also irritate mucous membranes and the respiratory tract and contact with eyes will also result in severe irritation.

Precautions:
For external use only. Keep out of eyes. Do not mix with detergents or other chemicals.
Keep out of reach of children.

Directions for Use: Use Undiluted

For Antimicrobial Hand Wash:
Deliver 5ml of MICROSHIELD* T Triclosan Skin Cleanser onto wet hands or skin.
Wash for 30 seconds, rinse thoroughly and dry.

A gentle antiseptic wash solution specially formulated for sensitive skin

SKIN SENSITIVITY TESTING RESULTS
An increased dilution (20% solution) of MICROSHIELD* T Triclosan Skin Cleanser compared to a lower concentration ( 8% solution ) of DOVE Brand and IVORY Brand soaps was used. Volunteers were assessed from day 2 through 6 and again on day 8 for skin cracking, scaling and erythema. Results indicate MICROSHIELD* T Triclosan Skin Cleanser is a very mild product.
